Collaborative Edition

poster design

This poster was made for the Collaborative Edition project created by Rae Baitx. The project consisted of WWU Design and Art students producing posters to promote accessible public art. I was fortunate enough to design the first edition posters. A limited run of 41 posters were screen printed by Rae, along with several monoprints. Posters were put up around downtown Bellingham as well as exhibited in the B Gallery at WWU.

The poster consists of a number of layers. The background was a photograph that I took of the sky which was then processed by Rae. I hand drew the cliff with pencil and the obscure skeleton holding the thurible with pen. Lastly I made the type digitally by nesting custom letterforms within each other, in order to create a sort of puzzle that viewers would have to decipher. Can you figure out what it says?
